Simple melody sheet music. Simple piano sheet with the Animals's arpeggio.
Slow blues version from 1942. The Animals, 1964. Muse, 2016. Chase Holfelder, 2018.
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun.
It's been the ruin of many a poor fool
For I, oh Lord, am one.
My mother was a tailor,
My pa, a hired gun.
My brother turned a sailor
To escape the Rising Sun.
My sweetheart was a gambler
Down in New Orleans.
He woke up of the wrong side of debt...
I still can hear his screams.
If I'd listened to what my mother said,
I'd be at home today.
But I was a young and foolish poor girl,
Let a gambler lead me astray.
I came out west to Salt City
For I was on the run.
It takes just disappearance or death
To escape the Rising Sun.
One foot is on the platform,
The other on the train.
Oh, I'll become a blacksmith
To break the ball and chain.
Oh God, please save my mother.
Oh God, please save my son.
Oh God, please save your children
From the House of the Rising Sun.
My mother died in poverty,
And I will do the same.
Oh death, oh death, come down on me,
Release me from my shame.
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun.
It's been the ruin of many a poor fool
For I, oh Lord, am one.

Greensleeves
I like the Blackmore's night version. But more traditional tunage is good too. Or something that's most familiar. Simple sheet music
Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.
Chorus:
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my Lady Greensleeves.
Alas, my love, that you should own
A heart of wanton vanity,
So must I meditate alone
Upon your insincerity.
(Chorus)
Your vows you've broken, like my heart,
Oh, why did you so enrapture me?
Now I remain in a world apart
But my heart remains in captivity.
(Chorus)
If you intend thus to disdain,
It does the more enrapture me,
And even so, I still remain
A lover in captivity.
(Chorus)
I have been ready at your hand,
To grant whatever you would crave,
I have both wagered life and land,
Your love and good-will for to have.
(Chorus)
Thou couldst desire no earthly thing,
But still thou hadst it readily.
Thy music still to play and sing;
And yet thou wouldst not love me.
(Chorus)
I bought thee kerchiefs for thy head,
That were wrought fine and gallantly;
I kept thee at both board and bed,
Which cost my purse well-favoredly.
(Chorus)
I bought thee petticoats of the best,
The cloth so fine as it might be;
I gave thee jewels for thy chest,
And all this cost I spent on thee.
(Chorus)
Thy smock of silk, both fair and white,
With gold embroidered gorgeously;
Thy petticoat of sendal right,
And these I bought thee gladly.
(Chorus)
My men were clothed all in green,
And they did ever wait on thee;
All this was gallant to be seen,
And yet thou wouldst not love me.
(Chorus)
They set thee up, they took thee down,
They served thee with humility;
Thy foot might not once touch the ground,
And yet thou wouldst not love me.
(Chorus)
'Tis, I will pray to God on high,
That thou my constancy mayst see,
And that yet once before I die,
Thou wilt vouchsafe to love me.
(Chorus)
Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu,
To God I pray to prosper thee,
For I am still thy lover true,
Come once again and love me.
(Chorus)
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.

Follow Me Up to Carlow
Ok obviously I like the rambunctious versions that sound like parties. Here's Young Dubliners but Planxty is good too. Simple sheet music
Lift MacCahir Óg your face brooding o'er the old disgrace
That black Fitzwilliam stormed your place, drove you to the Fern
Grey said victory was sure soon the firebrand he'd secure;
Until he met at Glenmalure with Fiach MacHugh O'Byrne.
Curse and swear Lord Kildare
Fiach will do what Fiach will dare
Now Fitzwilliam, have a care
Fallen is your star, low
Up with halbert out with sword
On we'll go for by the Lord
Fiach MacHugh has given the word,
Follow me up to Carlow.
See the swords of Glen Imayle, they're flashing o'er the English Pale
See all the children of the Gael, beneath O'Byrne's banners
Rooster of a fighting stock, would you let a Saxon cock
Crow out upon an Irish rock? Fly up and teach him manners!
Curse and swear Lord Kildare
Fiach will do what Fiach will dare
Now Fitzwilliam, have a care
Fallen is your star, low
Up with halbert out with sword
On we'll go for by the Lord
Fiach MacHugh has given the word,
Follow me up to Carlow.
From TaSaggart to Clonmore, there flows a stream of Saxon gore
O, great is Rory Óg O'More, at sending the loons to Hades.
White is sick and Grey is fled, now for black Fitzwilliam's head
We'll send it over dripping red, to Queen Liza and her ladies.
Curse and swear Lord Kildare
Fiach will do what Fiach will dare
Now Fitzwilliam, have a care
Fallen is your star, low
Up with halbert out with sword
On we'll go for by the Lord

Winter Light: Opal
"Opal/Winter Light" poem by Amy Lowell. Music by Michael Gandolfi
You are ice and fire,
The touch of you burns my hands like snow.
You are cold and flame.
You are the crimson of amaryllis,
The silver of moon-touched magnolias.
When I am with you,
My heart is a frozen pond
Gleaming with agitated torches.
Cockles & Mussels
Cockles and Mussels - I haven't found a recording I like of this
In Dublin's fair city,
Where the Girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes,
On sweet Molly Malone,
As she wheeled her wheel barrow,
Through the streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles and mussels,
Alive alive o!
Alive alive o!
Alive alive o!
Crying cockles and mussels,
Alive alive o!
She was a fish monger,
And sure it was no wonder,
For so were her
Father and Mother before,
And they both wheeled their barrow,
Through the streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles and mussels,
Alive alive o!
Alive alive o!
Alive alive o!
Crying cockles and mussels,
Alive alive o!
She died of a fever,
And no one could save her,
And that was the end
Of sweet Molly Malone,
But her ghost wheels her barrow,
Through the streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles and mussels,
Alive alive o!
In Dublin's fair city,
Where the Girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes,
On sweet Molly Malone,
As she wheeled her wheel barrow,
Through the streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles and mussels,
Alive alive o!
Alive alive o!
Alive alive o!
Crying cockles and mussels,
Alive alive o!
She was a fish monger,
And sure it was no wonder,
For so were her
Father and Mother before,
And they both wheeled their barrow,
Through the streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles and mussels,
Alive alive o!
Alive alive o!
Alive alive o!
Crying cockles and mussels,

She died of a fever,
And no one could save her,
And that was the end
Of sweet Molly Malone,
But her ghost wheels her barrow,

Rocky Road to Dublin
Rocky Road to Dublin - This is said to be one of the most difficult folk tunes to sing/play... Here's violin + piano music
While in the merry month of May from me home I started,
While in the merry month of May from me home I started,
Left the girls of Tuam so sad and broken hearted,
Saluted father dear, kissed me darling mother,
Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother,
Then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born,
Cut a stout black thorn to banish ghosts and goblins;
Bought a pair of brogues rattling o'er the bogs
And fright'ning all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin.
Saluted father dear, kissed me darling mother,
Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother,
Then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born,
Cut a stout black thorn to banish ghosts and goblins;
Bought a pair of brogues rattling o'er the bogs
And fright'ning all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin.
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !
In Mullingar that night I rested limbs so weary,
Started by daylight next morning blithe and early,
Took a drop of pure to keep me heart from sinking;
That's a Paddy's cure whenever he's on drinking.
See the lassies smile, laughing all the while
At me curious style, 'twould set your heart a bubblin'
Asked me was I hired, wages I required,
I was almost tired of the rocky road to Dublin.
Started by daylight next morning blithe and early,
Took a drop of pure to keep me heart from sinking;
That's a Paddy's cure whenever he's on drinking.
See the lassies smile, laughing all the while
At me curious style, 'twould set your heart a bubblin'
Asked me was I hired, wages I required,
I was almost tired of the rocky road to Dublin.
One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !
In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity
To be soon deprived a view of that fine city.
So then I took a stroll, all among the quality;
Me bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality.
Something crossed me mind, when I looked behind,
No bundle could I find upon me stick a wobblin'
Enquiring for the rogue, they said me Connaught brogue
Wasn't much in vogue on the rocky road to Dublin.
To be soon deprived a view of that fine city.
So then I took a stroll, all among the quality;
Me bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality.

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !
From there I got away, me spirits never falling,
Landed on the quay, just as the ship was sailing.
The Captain at me roared, said that no room had he;
When I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy.
Down among the pigs, played some hearty rigs,
Danced some hearty jigs, the water round me bubbling;
When off Holyhead I wished meself was dead,
Or better for instead on the rocky road to Dublin.
Landed on the quay, just as the ship was sailing.
The Captain at me roared, said that no room had he;
When I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy.
Down among the pigs, played some hearty rigs,

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !
Well the boys of Liverpool, when we safely landed,
Called meself a fool, I could no longer stand it.
Blood began to boil, temper I was losing;
Poor old Erin's Isle they began abusing.
"Hurrah me soul" says I, me Shillelagh I let fly.
Some Galway boys were nigh and saw I was a hobble in,
With a load "hurray !" joined in the affray.
We quitely cleared the way for the rocky road to Dublin.
Called meself a fool, I could no longer stand it.
Blood began to boil, temper I was losing;
Poor old Erin's Isle they began abusing.
"Hurrah me soul" says I, me Shillelagh I let fly.

Black is the Color
Black is the Color - I love the Fiddlesticks version of this
Black black black is the color of my true love`s hair
His lips are like some roses fair
The sweetest face and the gentlest hands.
I love the ground whereon he stands
For black is the color of my true love's hair
His lips are like some roses fair
The sweetest face and the gentlest hands.
I love the ground whereon he stands
I love my love and well he knows
I love the ground whereon he goes.
If he on earth no more I see
My life shall surely leave me
Black black black is the color of my true love`s hair
His lips are like some roses fair
The sweetest face and the gentlest hands.
I love the ground whereon he stands
I go to trouble some to mourn and weep
But satisfied I never can sleep
I'll write him a letter, a few short lines
I'll suffer death ten thousand times
A winter's past and the leaves are green
The time has past that we have seen
But still I hope the time will come
When you and I will be as one
Black black black is the color of my true love's hair
Black black black is the color of my true love`s hair
His lips are like some roses fair
The sweetest face and the gentlest hands.
I love the ground whereon he stands

Other.
Sarah says we should cover Sleeping Sun, and I, of course, agree with her.
Here's some sheet music. Don't know if it's that great, but I guess it's a start.

Secret Tunnel
Wrote some lyrics to make it a whole song!
Two lovers, forbidden from one another
A war divides their people
And a mountain divides them apart.
These lovers made a pact to one another
With the power of their hearts
No mountain could keep them apart.
Secret tunnel! Secret tunnel!
Through the mountain!
Secret secret secret secret tunnel!
The walls would move and the tunnels would change
Only they knew the way through
And their names were Oma and Shu.
They dreamed of a city of peace and prosperity
Built from the earth by their hands.
They wished for a new land.
Secret tunnel! Secret tunnel!
Through the mountain!
Secret secret secret secret tunnel!
And if you go in, you must follow your heart
And your love will lead you to light.
But if you do not trust the power of love,
You will surely get lost and die.
Secret tunnel! Secret tunnel!
Through the mountain!
Secret secret secret secret tunnel!
Two lovers, forbidden from one another
A war divides their people
And a mountain divides them apart.
These lovers made a pact to one another
With the power of their hearts

Other songs again.
I'd also like to do Hoist the Colors from Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin. Imagine that with strings and Brynn singing Nightwish style. It would be the best ever.
(this is a pretty lame cover, but it gives the whole song)

Other songs.
I'd like to do "Something Wicked This Way Comes." Also some more Shakespeare songs, though I don't have any particular ones in mind. An orchestral version of the 5th Element diva song? Maybe cover a Decemberists song.

Lily's Eyes--Sirius and Remus version
SIRIUS:
Strangely quiet, but now my mum
Simply rests to strike again
Standing, waiting, I see his face
I see her eyes
LUPIN:
Strange, this Harry, he leaves the room
Yet listens, Extendable ears
Something stirs me to think of her
I think of her
SIRIUS:
From death she casts her spell
From death, secretly spies
For now a boy has come who has her eyes
He has her eyes
The boy has Lily’s green eyes
Those eyes that saw him happy long ago
Those eyes that gave him life
And hoped he’d never know
The darkness that killed her and
Destroyed those green eyes
LUPIN:
He has her eyes
The boy has Lily’s green eyes
Those eyes that closed and left us all alone
Those eyes I feel will never ever let us go
How can we see this boy who has her green eyes?
In Lily’s eyes shone happiness
In the darkest hour
And though she fought with all her might
She crumpled from his power
SIRIUS:
He has her eyes
He has his mother’s green eyes
Those eyes that loved my best friend and their son
Those eyes that shone ferocity
And loved her one son
And held him close
To live at last with Lily’s eyes
LUPIN:
Imagine me, a werewolf
SIRIUS:
I longed for the day
She would defeat Lord Voldemort
LUPIN AND SIRIUS:
Would God had let her stay
SIRIUS:
He has her eyes
He has Lily’s green eyes
Those eyes that Potter loved so
How can
I now forget
That once she dared
To fight against the Dark Lord
It’s Lily’s eyes
It’s Lily’s eyes
LUPIN: (sung simultaneously with SIRIUS)
He has her eyes
His mother’s green eyes
Those eyes that saw him happy long ago
How can
I now forget
That once she sacrificed her life
And he’s alive
With Lily’s eyes
With Lily’s eyes
Strangely quiet, but now my mum
Simply rests to strike again

Lily’s Eyes (Snape version-duet with cello!!)
Strangely quiet in the Great Hall
As the students leave at last
But when I looked him in the face,
I saw her eyes
This Harry, he acts just like
His dad, that smarmy git
Yet something stirs me to think of her
I think of her
Each day I cast my spell
All night, secretly sigh
And now a boy has come who has her eyes
He has her eyes
The boy has Lily’s green eyes
Those eyes that saw me happy long ago
Those eyes that gave me life
And hope I’d never known
Oh how I hate this boy
And miss those green eyes
The boy has Lily’s green eyes
Those eyes that turned away, left me alone
Those eyes I feel will never ever let me go
How can I see this boy who has her green eyes?
In Lily’s eyes this Severus
Was good and true
But as I changed she turned away
My love she never knew
He has her eyes
He has my Lily’s green eyes
Those eyes that loved that Potter, never me
Those eyes that, though they saw me
Never knew I longed
I hold her close, to live forever
In her eyes
Imagine me, a lover
She was a true friend
But I hurt her and she hurt me
This pain will never end!
He has her eyes
He has Lily’s green eyes
Those eyes that first I loved so
How can
I now let go
And I still dare to be
In love, my wretched soul
In Lily’s eyes
In Lily’s eyes
As the students leave at last
But when I looked him in the face,
I saw her eyes
This Harry, he acts just like
His dad, that smarmy git

Fred and George
Who's the guy who makes mischief
And stands up for what's right?
Who's his brother, yes his twin
Who won't hesitate to fight?
Who are those two, they're quite a pair
Let me tell you who they are, it's
Fred and George!
When school is troubling you
Use the three Ws!
Fred and George!
Let's get magical!
Fred and George!
Weasley's Wizard Wheezes!
They're the guys who invent treats
Like Canary Creams
They're the ones who gives us sweets
Which cause lovely daydreams
They're the best, it's no contest
Fred and George beat all the rest! It's
Fred and George!
When school is troubling you
Use the three Ws!
Fred and George!
Let's get magical!
Fred and George!
Better watch out, you bad boys!
Fred and George!
And stands up for what's right?
Who's his brother, yes his twin
Who won't hesitate to fight?
Who are those two, they're quite a pair
Let me tell you who they are, it's
Fred and George!
When school is troubling you
Use the three Ws!
Fred and George!
Let's get magical!
Fred and George!
Weasley's Wizard Wheezes!
They're the guys who invent treats
Like Canary Creams
They're the ones who gives us sweets
Which cause lovely daydreams
They're the best, it's no contest
Fred and George beat all the rest! It's
Fred and George!
When school is troubling you
Use the three Ws!
Fred and George!
Let's get magical!
Fred and George!
Better watch out, you bad boys!
Fred and George!

Boulevard of Broken Things
I walk an evil road
A road of which I have never known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s only me and I walk alone
I walk an evil street
Down this boulevard of broken things
Where Death Eaters meet
But I’m the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone
This witch is selling fingernails beside me
Quidditch supplies? Not in Knockturn Alley
I really hope someone I know will find me
Til then I walk alone
Hid in Borgin and Burkes
Where some truly evil thing lurks
The Malfoys, those jerks
Came in and sold some stuff
And I was alone
There was a withered hand,
Blood-stained cards and a cabinet unmanned
Which I hid inside
Good thing I’m still alive
But I was alone
I was alone, I was alone
I was alone
This witch is selling fingernails beside me
Quidditch supplies? Not in Knockturn Alley
I really hope someone I know will find me
Til then I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk an evil street
Down this boulevard of broken things
Where Death Eaters meet
But I’m the only one and I walk alone
This witch is selling fingernails beside me
Quidditch supplies? Not in Knockturn Alley
I really hope someone I know will find me
Til then I walk alone
A road of which I have never known
